Certified Information Technology Professional (CITP)

The CITP credential is granted to CPAs who distinguish themselves for skills and experience in employing information technology to assist clients in such areas as risk assessment, anti-fraud, internal control, audit and information management.

The credential, issued by the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants (AICPA), recognizes CITPs as trustworthy business advisors who have the technical expertise to assure security and confidentiality of financial information, to prevent and detect fraud, to develop efficient and effective work flows and processes, and to assure reliability of financial reporting and preparation of financial statements for external use.

CITPs also must demonstrate a commitment to continuously improve information technology accounting expertise.

To qualify for the credential, CPAs must meet requirements for experience and education in information management and technology assurance.
