NETWORK ADMINISTRATOR

Holbrook and Manter is seeking a qualified candidate for Network Administrator. The Network Administrator’s role is to ensure the stable operation of the in-house computer network. This includes planning, developing, installing, configuring, maintaining, supporting, and optimizing all network hardware, software, and communication links all the way to the end-user. The role will also analyze and resolve end user hardware and software computer problems in a timely and accurate fashion, and provide end user training where required.

Responsibilities:

Strategy & Planning

  • Perform network design and capacity planning.
  • Develop, implement and maintain policies, procedures and associated training plans for network resource administration, appropriate use, and disaster recovery.
  • Establish service level agreements with end users.
  • Evaluate documented resolutions and analyze trends for ways to prevent future problems.

Acquisition & Deployment

  • Oversee installation, configuration, maintenance, and troubleshooting of end user workstation hardware, software, and peripheral devices.
  • Interact and negotiate with vendors, outsourcers, and contractors to secure network products and services.
  • Conduct research on network products, services, protocols, and standards in support of network procurement and development efforts.

Operational Management – Network Infrastructure

  • Manage servers, including e-mail, print, and backup servers and their associated operating systems and software.
  • Manage security solutions, including firewall, anti-virus, and intrusion detection systems.
  • Manage all network hardware and equipment, including routers, switches, hubs, and UPSs.
  • Ensure network connectivity of all workstations.
  • Administer all equipment, hardware and software upgrades.
  • Practice network asset management, including maintenance of network component inventory and related documentation and technical specifications information.
  • Administer and maintain end user accounts, permissions, and access rights.
  • Perform server and security audits.
  • Perform system backups and recovery.
  • Monitor and test network performance and provide network performance statistics and reports.
  • Recommend, schedule, and perform network improvements, upgrades, and repairs.
  • Manage and/or provide guidance to junior members of the team.

Operational Management – Desktop Infrastructure

  • Field incoming help requests from end users via both telephone and e-mail in a courteous manner.
  • Build rapport and elicit problem details from staff.
  • Prioritize and schedule problems. Escalate problems (when required).
  • Record, track, and document the help desk request problem-solving process, including all successful and unsuccessful decisions made, and actions taken, through to final resolution.
  • Apply diagnostic utilities to aid in troubleshooting.
  • Access software updates, drivers, knowledge bases, and frequently asked questions resources on the Internet to aid in problem resolution.
  • Identify and learn appropriate software and hardware used and supported by the organization.
  • Perform hands-on fixes at the desktop level, including installing and upgrading software, installing hardware, implementing file backups, and configuring systems and applications.
  • Install anti-virus software.
  • Performing preventative maintenance, including checking and cleaning of workstations, printers, and peripherals.
  • Test fixes to ensure problem has been adequately resolved.
  • Perform post-resolution follow-ups to help requests.
  • Develop help sheets and frequently asked questions lists for end users.

Position Requirements:

Formal Education & Certification

  • College diploma or university degree in the field of computer science and/or 2 years equivalent work experience preferred.
  • IT-related certifications a plus.

Knowledge & Experience

  • Working technical knowledge of network and PC operating systems.
  • Working technical knowledge of current network hardware, protocols, and standards, including VmWare is a plus.
  • Hands-on hardware troubleshooting experience.
  • Good understanding of the organization’s goals and objectives.
  • Knowledge of applicable data privacy practices and laws.

IT AUDITOR LEVEL 1

Holbrook and Manter is seeking qualified entry-level candidates to join our growing Audit and Assurance practice in the area of IT control auditing and consulting. This position will allow a candidate with a strong IT technical background to grow into areas of IT governance, control, security, and auditing projects for clients.

Responsibilities:

The candidate may work on any of the following:

  • Participation in planning and conducting audit engagements in accordance with the internal audit program throughout the United States.
  • Identifying risks and process deficiencies of IT solutions and/or processes.
  • Managing delivery of audit projects.
  • Staying abreast of best practices and regulatory requirements.
  • Communicating with and educating process owners on the importance of controls, an effective control environment, and the role of Internal Audit.

Qualifications:

Education:

  • Bachelors of Science in Information Systems or Computer Science preferred but not required.
  • Willingness to pursue CISSP, CEH, or CISA designation.

Experience:
