Deadline for Direct Deposit for Economic Stimulus Checks is Fast Approaching

The Treasury Department and the IRS are reminding those looking to get their coronavirus stimulus checks quickly, to elect to have the funds delivered to them via direct deposit. The deadline to do so is quickly approaching. Those who still have not received stimulus funds should elect the direct deposit option using the Get My Payment tool by Wednesday, May 13 by noon.

“We’re working hard to get more payments quickly to taxpayers,” said IRS Commissioner Chuck Rettig. “We want people to visit Get My Payment before the noon Wednesday deadline so they can provide their direct deposit information. Time is running out for a chance to get these payments several weeks earlier through direct deposit.”

Those who elect not to go the direct deposit route will receive checks through the mail. Americans with the lowest income will get mailed checks first.
